Mixed Media Mosaic Art Mirror

Coming up in a couple of weeks I will be heading East to Maine to teach a couple of classes. First up is Mixed Media Mosaic Art, a one day mosaic process where we will set our tiles into an adhesive bed. Tiles include various materials from stained glass to beads, to handmade paper ephemera tiles. This process can be so fun with endless possibilities and lends itself to a tapestry look that I can't resist. Hope you can join me March 10th at Artascope Studios in Maine.

Glass Workshops on the Coast of Maine

Coming up in 2018 I am excited to be traveling back and forth to Artascope Studios in Yarmouth, Maine to teach some one day courses.
So far on the schedule you can find...

Mixed Media Mosaic Art- One Day

March 10 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
In this one day workshop, get a sense of mosaic art with a non-grouted technique, where we will set out tile into an pigmented adhesive bed. This process is quick, fun and lends itself to using found objects, vintage jewels, beads, buttons, you name it! While this project could be as easy as sticking down your gems and jewels to make a beautiful tapestry, you can also use the opportunity to learn glass cutting, lay patterning, and making your own custom ephemera glass tiles. Leave with a finished work of art (10″ mirror) for your home. This process creates an interior only mosaic art piece. Students are invited to bring in any small glass or metal treasures to incorporate in their piece or to share. All levels welcome.

Stained Glass Feather or Color Strip

March 11 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Create a Feather Sun Catcher or Decorative Color Strip using the copper foil method. Students will spend their day moving through the techniques of selecting and cutting glass, soldering and adding a special touch to their piece with some decorative soldering methods. Each student will make 1-2 pieces to bring home and leave with the basic knowledge of the stained glass process. This is a beginner level project so all are welcome!

It was time...

Took a ride to Waterbury, VT today to visit the Stowe Street Cafe and pick up 4 pieces of my art that had been on display. If you haven't been in there yet, go! So fun and full of colorful local art! And it was packed with customers. Love it there. Hated to take my work down as it looked great displayed amongst  the plethora of color and creative energy. But it was time. On to the show in Bethel, VT this weekend and then to store in my new studio location there until summer. Current works are always available on my Etsy page as well.

Feeling Colorful

This week I am feeling colorful I guess. I had a vision of a design and ran with it. It fell in line with a topic of study given out by an online art study group I am involved with. This month's theme was "Water" and while this piece is very abstract it reminds me of a sun spray on the ocean. It reminds me of many things. I has a spirit, like as Sun Totem. I like it. It is bright. It is outside of my norm. I feel like the frame color was risky but I do enjoy the high contrast. Loving pinks with oranges and turquoise right now. Anyhoo, here ya go. Let me know what you think.

Like White Linens

I LOVE white lace curtains, tea stained ephemera and old crochet trimmed tea towels. I seek them out at yard sales and antique shops. I have made a few mosaics as of late that have this feel for me. It is a direction I am working towards. I would like to capture that essence eventually. At my wedding I shredded old white and off white fabrics and lace and created a banner to hang on the porch. It made me very happy.
